MRS ADELINE GIAM
I was posted to Pioneer Primary School in 2002. This is my 19th year in Pioneer Primary. When I first joined teaching, I was posted to a very old and small school so when I stepped into PPS, I was impressed by the size and of course, the lift. The people in the school are what helped me pull through even during the difficult times. We helped each other. We work as a team. The school spirit is high. We are always ready to offer a helping hand. My fondest memory will be our annual Teacher's Day event. Everyone will put in their best effort to dress up.
MRS ELIS ANG
I have been teaching in Pioneer Primary since January 1997. PPS is like a second home to me. My fondest memory was the trip to Australia with all the PPS Band CCA members.
MDM AZLINDA
Hi, I am Mdm Azlinda and I have been with Pioneer Primary for about 11 years. What I love about Pioneer is the sense of duty and care teachers, staff and students have for each other. It is almost contagious. Everyone here has a very strong commitment to making sure our daily interactions here in school are very lively, positive and compassionate. My fondest memories here are when we are given opportunities to build friendships and camaraderie with each other, be it student-level bonding activities or teacher and staff-bonding events and activities. It creates a warmth within and a greater sense of belonging to the school.
MRS CHRISTINE NG
I have been teaching in PPS for close to 8 years. PPS staff, both teaching or non-teaching, are a group of fun-loving and warm-hearted people. I have forged several friendships along the way and I value the trust and openness among us. My fondest memory of the school would be the participation of several school events together as staff and bringing the best to our students. I hope this camaraderie and unitedness that we have will follow us wherever we are.
MS CHANG SHI MIN
I always look forward to the Malay Dance practice sessions with my fellow dance members from other classes and levels. On top of the regular practice sessions, I love the termly team bonding sessions as that was the time we get to know one another better. We also had fun playing team bonding games. Learning new dance routine can be a challenge but we persevere and press on. My dance instructors, teachers and team members always look out for one another just like families do. One of my fondest moments would be when I was selected to be in the SYF 2020 team. We had intensive but memorable practice sessions.
MDM KRISTINE CHEE
In our CCA, we had activities such as scout uniform origami, making a flower using a plastic bag and other handicrafts. We also learnt how to tie different survival knots, cook, pitch a tent and design posters and bookmarks to promote conservation of water and energy. I really like this CCA because we get to learn life skills. We also learn important values such as teamwork, care and responsibility.
My fondest memories was when I was in Primary 4. We went on an excursion. First, we went to the Singapore Army Museum. We saw the tanks, cannons and guns. We learned about the history and what the soldiers did. After that, we walked to the Singapore Discovery Centre and learned about Singapore's important figures and their past. There were a lot of games to play and it was very interesting. I learned a lot from the trip and had a lot of fun.
Mdm CHEN DE QI
I have been in PPS for 8 years. I like the people and the environment in Pioneer Primary School. As I have food allergy and have to be careful of what I eat, the schools vendors are always very kind and will always look out for me when I order food from them.
MR JOHN CHEW
I have been in Pioneer Primary School for 4 over years. It is a nice place to make new connections and impact lives. My fondest memories are the Sports Day events held throughout the years which are always filled with excitement!
Mr Chiam
I taught in Pioneer Primary School when I was a contract teacher and subsequently, I was posted back to Pioneer Primary School when I was officially trained by NIE. I remember Pioneer Primary School as a welcoming and caring place and I most enjoyed working with the colleagues in the school. My fondest memory of the school was the first time i stepped into a classroom when I was only a contract teacher with heartfelt excitement and joy when I interacted with the P6 students despite it being a relief class and I didn't know what to expect. It was an invaluable experience for me as I enjoyed the interaction and the students were very welcoming.
MR GERALD CHIANG
Coming full circle from student to teacher has been a heartening experience. Seeing PPS grow tremendously over the 25 years is something that makes me proud. Definitely numerous things have changed but what stayed constant was the Pioneer spirit. My fondest memory as a student was playing marbles with my friends near the sandpit during recess. Whilst as a teacher, it is amazing to see my own students create their own memories and leaving their own mark in the school.
MRS MAY CHAN
I started teaching in PPS since 1996. I have taught students from P1 to P6 throughout my years in PPS. I was the first Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) of the school. I supported students with their various learning needs. In my years with PPS, I was also a teacher counsellor, as well as the school coordinating mentor to the NIE trainees posted to our school for their practicum. I was also one of the teachers in charge of the 88th Company Girls' Brigade CCA. In the last couple of years, I've moved on to become an adjunct teacher. I enjoy teaching students, especially those with special needs. Seeing the students grow in all aspects bring so much joy and satisfaction to me. I will miss the wonderful colleagues that I've met in PPS. They have become my friends for life and I am so thankful for them.
MS PAIGE CHONG
2021 marks the 8th year since the day I joined the teaching fraternity and Pioneer Primary School is the place where I started my career as a teacher – to have my first form class, my first classroom and having my first workstation. Walking to different corners of the school brings back a lot of beautiful memories that will stay with me as we move on to the next milestone. My favourite part of the school has got to be the school garden. The tranquility in the garden makes me feel rejuvenated as I reflect after a long school day. My fondest memory in Pioneer Primary School has got to be able to participate in the 2D1N Cultural Immersion Trip to Melaka in 2018. It was an eye-opening experience to be able to learn alongside educators from another school and for our students to be able to explore and experience the world.
MS SAMANTHA CHONG
I meet wonderful children, nice teachers and great colleagues who are my sources of happiness and motivation at work since I joined the school in April 2019. Thank you for the good times and sweet moments that we shared together in Pioneer Primary School.
MRS DIANA KANG (VICE PRINCIPAL)
Blessed to have Pioneer Primary School as my first primary school, a wonderful place with positive vibes, and many amazing colleagues and good children.
MS CHUN YANZHENG
I have been in Pioneer Primary School for more than 10 years. I like our Science laboratories because they are spacious and clean. My fondest memory of the school is when 100% of P6 the cohort cleared PSLE last year (2020).
MRS DHIL
PPS has been my one and only school after graduating from NIE for the past 21 years. I have the pleasure of having worked with all the 5 principals. There was a time when I wanted to leave but was discouraged by well-wishers and advised otherwise that situations will be similar in most schools. Five years ago, when I had considered retirement, it was the same colleagues who nudged me to reconsider my decision. So, here I am and if I have come this far then the credit goes to my wonderful colleagues around me. They have given me the strength to face adversities.
Every day is a different experience in school. We do not only teach our students but we also learn a lot from them. When I recall the different classes and the various subjects I have been teaching, many incidents will come to my mind – be they hilarious, sensitive, embarrassing, encouraging. Nonetheless, the young faces have certainly kept me going.
Teaching Science is shunned by many teachers – including me. Setting of Science exam papers is a nightmare to many of us. Thanks to the adventurous and empathizing HODs – especially the current one and the one before him – we love being in the Science department. It’s a joy to prepare resources and conduct experiments with the students. I can’t imagine not teaching Science anymore. Our eco gardens and ponds are some of my favourite places in our school.
Pioneer Primary School is something that I would miss terribly after spending a big chunk of my time here. The people, the places, the experiences – there’s just too much to be summarized in a few words. My thoughts of PPS will remain with me till cease to exist.I have been in Pioneer Primary School for more than 10 years. I like our Science laboratories because they are spacious and clean. My fondest memory of the school is when 100% of P6 the cohort cleared PSLE last year (2020).
MR SIMON DIONG
I have been with Pioneer Primary School for a short 2 years. In this short period of time, I find the colleagues very warm and welcoming and the workplace is such a fun place to be. The students in the school are also very well behaved and truly embraces the school values of care and responsibility. This is a nice place to work and play.
MS SUSAN GOH
I have been a school counsellor in Pioneer Primary School since 2020 till now. It's been 1 and half years for me here in Pioneer Primary School. I like this school because of the beautiful ponds and friendly neighbourhood where colleagues are like family to me and the students are like my children. The fondest memory I had was from the year 2020 where we were hit with lots of challenges in school due to the COVID pandemic and we have our school leaders and colleagues as a lighthouse to guide one another and giving hope to everyone so that we can survive this ordeal. We worked hard and we saw the light from the light house showing us that we have found a safe place to strive for after struggling with the waves of adversities and now we are resilient and we can brave the ocean or seas as we sail this VUCA world together as we embrace the future.
MRS CHAN PUAY PUAY
Pioneer Primary School is the second school that I have taught in. I have been teaching in PPS for 14 years. The lovely colleagues here have given me lots of support and warmth in many many ways. Appreciation notes, messages and emails that I received from parents and students have given me the strength to bear with challenges and overcome difficult moments too. The various dressed-up events like Teachers' Day Dinner, Books Alive event and commemorative days have left me fond memories of how fun-loving, supportive & spontaneous the people around me are.
MRS JOSEPHINE LIM
I have been in Pioneer Primary School since 2019. My 4 children were all educated in PPS and the teachers here have taught them well so I also want to do my part in inculcating not only knowledge, but also values to the kids here. My fondest memory here is seeing the children coming back to school every year during Teachers' Day to see and thank me for teaching them.
Mr Desmond Lee
I love Pioneer Primary School! I have been teaching in the school since 2015 and the Pioneer family staff have always been warm and approachable. I especially like the conducive happy school environment where our teachers work hand-in-hand towards achieving our desired student outcomes. I could see the eagerness to learn from most of my students and that they want to be engaged, encouraging and inspiring me to continue to come up with interesting lessons to grow them in their learning. One of my fondest memory was seeing the fruits of our labour when the graduating classes collected their PSLE results. I was overwhelmed with emotions when the students performed well. Even for those who may not have met their expectations, they certainly put in their greatest effort. I have always believed that character education is crucial in students' learning, way above academic excellence. With a right set of character values, our PPS students will go far in life and be successful people in the society in the future.
MS LEE SIE MIN
Pioneer Primary School is my first school and I have learned and grown a lot throughout my 2 years here in PPS. I am very grateful for my time here as all the staff are very giving and patient, and they have nurtured a spirit of care among the students. My fondest memory of the school would be the Books Alive event. It was really fun and fascinating to witness all the staff and students dressing up in their favourite book characters and sharing their joy and passion in reading!
MDM REBECCA LEE
I have been with Pioneer for about 10 years. Pioneer gives me a homely feeling where all staff and students are like one big family. My fondest memory was when Pioneer had two sessions - morning and afternoon. The primary one and two students were in the afternoon sessions and the school was a cozy place for these two levels to mingle and learn.
MS LEKHAADEVI
Pioneer Primary School is the first school in my teaching career. I have been here for about 3 years. The school taught me to be a better teacher. Colleagues here are so friendly and approachable. My time at PPS will forever be memorable to me. Love you, PPS!
MR ISAAC LENG
I have been teaching in Pioneer Primary School for 10 years. I like PPS as I enjoy the care and great teamwork culture among colleagues and students. My fondest memory is watching my students grow in confidence and competence in their music-making journey. I will also miss my enthusiastic and cheerful choir members. It has been a privilege to be able to impact so many young lives through Music. Thank you for the wonderful memories and wishing everyone all the best in your future endeavours.
Ms LI SISI
I have been in PPS for 4 years. I like Pioneer because this is a very cozy, welcoming and friendly environment represented by the well-maintained Eco Garden which consists of greenery and ponds with different kinds of aquatic animals tended by the kind-hearted people. This allow and encourage personal growth for new teachers and new students. It provides the appropriate amount of freedom, proper and adequate guidance for one to explore about themselves and the environment and grow at their own pace because people here have the heart to maintain harmony, care for and support one another.
My fondest memory of the school is when I heard the originally created song “Glorious Future” for the first time with my first batch of P6 students in the classroom 6RS6 on the day that they received their PSLE results in 2020. It was not an easy year as we had to go through full HBL while preparing for their first important challenge in their life. Thankfully, their parents were supportive and the children strived hard enough to sail through PSLE safely. The song summarised all the precious moments in PPS for me as a BT then. All the best to all of us who have been part of Pioneer Primary School's history. Our future will be glorious no matter we will be, as long as we keep the Pioneer Heart.
MS LIM PEI YIING
I have been in Pioneer Primary School for only about 2 years. Despite my short time here, it has been a really memorable time for me here where I have had many enjoyable and unforgettable moments with students and colleagues alike. PPS has not only nurtured students, but it was also a cradle for me as a teacher where I could learn and develop myself to teach my students better. I love how PPS aims to make everyone; teachers, students and non-teaching staff; feel that they are truly a part of the PPS family through school events and programmes. My fondest memory of the school is seeing students gathering in the school hall for events pre-COVID times. Those times feel especially poignant now and it best represents the unity that is the Pioneer spirit and the school.
MR JOSEPH LIM
Pioneer Primary is not just a school where a decade of students passes through my hands and I have the privilege to see them grow from strength to strength. More importantly, it is my second home where colleagues and ex-students become friends. It is a place where there is no divide between the senior and junior colleagues. It is a place where many sow into my life to help me grow as an educator. It is a place where many fond memories are forged – from school-based events to overseas immersion trips. PPS will always have a special place in my heart.
MRS LEE WAI LING (Principal)
Good to Great! That is how I described Pioneer Primary. We are Great because We Care! The sense of responsibility and care for our students and each other permeates the classrooms and all other areas of the school.
I like the “Can-do” Spirit in Pioneer and we achieved many things because we dare to venture out and make it happened. There are many sweet memories, eg Trs’ Day, Hangzhou trip etc. My best memories would be the recording of the song Glorious Future! I am very proud of the P6HCL students(year 2020) who did the Chinese version of Glorious Future! May I wish everyone a Glorious Future wherever you may be!
Mrs Lynnette Tan
I have been teaching in Pioneer Primary School for many years. "This is home truly" where there is care, cooperation and shared goals among the staff to provide the best for our students. My fondest memory of the school would be Sports Day where everyone comes together and cheer for each other.
MRS SUDHA
I have been in Pioneer Primary School for 7 years where the feeling of camaraderie prevails giving me a sense of belonging. Having a great team of teachers to work with, the unconditional smiles and love from teachers and students and having a supportive admin team has made the 7 years whizzed by.
I have many fond memories in PPS but the most memorable among them are the occasional loud outbursts of laughter amongst the teachers in the staffroom, the e- Deepavali concert where teachers and school leaders tried their hands at murukku making and the numerous 'informal meetings' the TL teachers have had. Treasured memories which I will recall with fondness in the future.
MDM BEGUM
Teaching for 17 years in Pioneer Primary School gives me a collection of beautiful memories, which are timeless treasures of my heart. I enjoy working in this healthy working environment, filled with friendly staff. Every corner in the school reminds me of various memorable moments.
In 2013, eighteen Indian Dance members participated in the Chingay Parade, which was held in F1 Pit Building. The practices were held on Wednesdays and Saturdays evenings. I clearly remember the quiet late nights when we returned to school after practice. We had so much fun spending time together and working with people from different organisations. Despite handling schoolwork and late returns from the practices, the dance members report to school next day with a fresh mind. They have uphold the school values by staying resilient and facing the challenges. I had very fond memories of my time during this period.
Every year, without fail, I see lively ex-students crowding in the canteen during Teachers’ Day. It is the most pleasing moments of the year to see them as it reflects as how much they have benefitted from school. This is another fond memory of my time in Pioneer Primary School.
MDM MALAR
I came to Pioneer Primary School in January 1998. PPS has been my second home for about 23 years now. The one main thing that I like about PPS is my colleagues. Many of them who have become lifelong friends. Friends whom we share our ups and downs with, drop everything and go for coffee with and see the world with. I have been totally blessed with wonderful heads who have been understanding and caring about my well being as well.
Without children, there is no PPS. I have grown as a person together with them and am still learning from them. Learning to love and learning to choose my battles. I really need to thank all the children for showing me where I have gone wrong, giving me many opportunities to change. It makes me happy to hear from our ex students that they are doing well. I would like to wish every student who has gone through PPS the very best in everything they do.
Mr MAZLI
I came to Pioneer Primary School in 2016. To be honest, I had a rough start to my PPS life. It took me quite a while to adjust myself to the new environment but once I am tuned in (probably Growth Mindset helps!!), I began to appreciate and enjoy my life here as a PPS teacher. The people here are wonderful. My department people are crazy and full of nonsense (though most of that nonsense came from me)!
One of my best memories have to be the time when I hosted the Teachers' Day dinner. Till now, I kept asking myself...what happened? Is it the ice-cream that I ate? Was I possessed? OH HELL NO!! I...enjoyed myself that night...doing what I did. Will I be able to replicate that....I don't know. It was nice to see everyone laughing...enjoying themselves. Never going to forget that night.
See that's the thing...the staff....dressed up...all out...whatever the occasion. Teachers' Day dinner. Not to forget....Books Alive....how the teachers are willing to go the extra mile and add colours to our students lives....even just for that one day of the year.
Memories...not just for the students but for us teachers as well.
Mr FIRDAUS
It was all a blur for me when I first stepped into PPS in September 2008. The sights, the sounds, unfamiliar faces all around. As days went by (13 years to be exact), the sights and sounds once foreign to me became something which I cannot do without. The unfamiliar faces became family and just like that, PPS became my second home. That is what I like about PPS. We turn colleagues into family. What else can beat that!
I haven't got one fondest memory to be exact. To me, every opportunity to work together with wonderful colleagues and interacting with students is a fond memory in the making. And I am certainly blessed to have many of those beautiful memories!
Mr Kumar
I was lucky to chance upon Pioneer Primary as a beginning teacher. Having started my journey here, the culture of sharing was really something that stood out in PPS. I felt welcomed from the day I stepped in to PPS. It will hold a special place in my heart as this is where I made many good friendships. My fondest memory was definitely my interactions with the teachers and students outside of class.
Mrs Indhu
I have been with Pioneer Primary school for about 2.5 years. I kick started my teaching career in PPS. Thus, being my first school, PPS will always be close to my heart. The friendly staffs and enthusiastic students are what I like most about PPS. My colleagues have always been there for me throughout my time in PPS. Organising the Deepavali show together with my colleagues from Tamil department will be my fondest memory of the school. We had so much fun and laughter doing it. I would always treasure all the memories that I have created in PPS.
MR NELSON NAI
I have been in Pioneer for an amazing 13 years. Over these years, I became very fond of the people here – the teachers, the admin staff, the operations staff, the canteen stallholders and especially the students. The people in Pioneer are what I like best about this place. Everyone is willing to help one another and the friendships forged is strong. One of my fondest memories is when I first joined the school. I was a trainee teacher then and the school was at the holding site in Jurong East because the current school building was being built. Since there weren’t enough space, I was assigned the staff lounge table as my working table! That was how I got to know so many people so quickly! People ate there as I worked!
MS PAULINE NG
I have been teaching in PPS for a number of years. (No, I am not willing to reveal my age.) I like PPS because it is where I can teach my students and I enjoy spending time with them. My fondest memories of PPS would be when I see my students graduate and witnessed how they have grown and develop good character and values over the years. I am grateful to the PPS family who provided the care, advice and support that I need to provide the best for the students.
MDM NIRYANTY
I have been in PPS since 2000. Hmm... 20 years now. Pioneer Primary School is definitely growing towards being great. I am able to walk out and proudly proclaimed that the patience and dedication that my fellow colleagues have for their job and students are really heartwarming. PPS has always been a positive learning environment with wonderful teachers who grow and learn together, supporting each other. The culture of sharing in PPS is a factor to the length of my service here. My fondest and most heartwarming memory of the school would definitely be being part of the students journey in PPS and watching how the students from diverse background and ability, proudly graduating from PPS.
MS HAIROZAN
I started my journey in PPS since 2004. What I like about PPS is that it has a caring and loving school environment. Students grow with the support and care of teachers, fellow students and parents. My fondest memories of PPS would be Racial Harmony Day where teachers and students dressed up in their traditional costumes. It was such a memorable sight!
Ms ERWIENA
A woman shouldn’t reveal her age and by revealing the number of years I have taught in Pioneer Primary may give an indication of my age. Let’s just say I have been here for a while. PPS is characterised by one thing – the people. People in PPS go out of their way for others in the school, be it the students or the other staff. That is the very essence of the school. So this merger is not a closure. This essence will be brought over to the merged school and wherever the staff and students go to. This essence will continue to influence and affect others in positive ways, just like how this essence affected me when I was still rather new to the school. I remember the time when I was jittery about working in PPS after graduating from NIE, but a few wonderful friends I came to know here made my first few years so wonderful. They continued to make every subsequent year equally wonderful.
Mdm Ain
Hi! My name is Ain. Students address me as Mdm Ain. I am the Head of Department for Character and Citizenship Education. I am also a Malay Language teacher. I have been in the teaching service for sixteen years and this is my fourteenth year teaching in Pioneer Primary. In PPS, we place emphasis in creating a caring and positive school environment. The school is blessed with a dedicated and passionate team of teachers and allied educators who are willing to go the extra mile for the students. The dynamics and camaraderie among the teaching and non-teaching staff is amazing. I certainly enjoy working with my fellow colleagues in developing our students to be Confident, Creative, Caring and Resilient Leaders.
As a HOD for CCE, I work closely with our student development team as well as our allied educators in managing various student development matters. I feel a great sense of satisfaction when I see a positive transformation in students. I also enjoy moments with my fellow colleagues when we plan performances for Children’s Day. Despite our busy schedule, we come together every year to put up a concert for our students. No words can describe the joy of seeing the bright smiles and excitement of our students.
MDM RAIHAN
I have been with Pioneer Primary since July 2009. It has been a wonderful experience full of ups and downs. I will miss navigating the corridors of PPS, my 2nd home for the past 12 years. The memories of students I have taught will always be etched in my mind. What I will really miss most are the amazing colleagues who made everything a little less stressful when the going gets tough. To all my colleagues, I wish all of you the best for your future. Remember our passion for teaching and keep the flames alive!
Mdm Yanah
My years in PPS seems like a fleeting moment but it holds the most meaningful memories. I have met the sweetest students and has forged beautiful friendships with the people here. It has never been 'every man to himself' as the kampung spirit burns brightly in Pioneer Primary. May the kampung spirit lives on - 'the Pioneer spirit we uphold' :)
MRS SERINA WEE
I have been part of the Pioneer Primary family for more than ten years. In these years, I was given the opportunity to learn and grow. I have many beautiful memories about the students and colleagues in the school. They inspire me to be my best every day.
MRS VIJAY
I’ve been teaching in Pioneer Primary School for 25 years. It’s more like home to me. And what I treasure most is the “spirit of we can do this together” and the boundless energy among the teachers which acts as a catalyst to make a difference in the lives of the students we teach. My fondest memories of PPS would be the Musicals such as Cats, Wizard of Oz and Lion King staged by our very own Drama Club members for Prize-Giving Day. But one special performance that is very close to by heart is the 2004 P6 Performance whereby my students staged the play - The Pipe Piper of Hamelin. I can still vividly remember the cast of the play - the dancers, the actors, the stage hands, the props designers, and the narrators who rose to the occasion to put up a spectacular show.
MDM RAMEESA
The fact that I could probably impact a young person’s life is the main reason to be a Teacher. Being in Pioneer Primary School close to 14 years has given me the opportunity to gain many valuable experiences. With my experience as a teacher over the years, what really counted were not the teaching techniques but the sense of propriety, dedication and love. Building a relationship with the students is by far the most important thing all Pioneer Primary School teacher believes in. Without solid foundations and relationships built on trust and respect, no quality learning will happen.
MR RIDZWAN
It feels like forever that I have been here. So, what is it about Pioneer that has kept me here for so long? Well, the school culture is one of the reasons, and of course there is the wonderful lot of colleagues that I work with. It is sad knowing that the school building will be torn down but I take solace from the fact that the school will rise again, like a phoenix rising from the ashes.
Ms Rosita
Pioneer Primary School is the first school that I was posted to after I graduated from NTU/NIE. Pioneer Primary School has provided me with many treasured moments. I have come across many dedicated and caring mentors, colleagues and friends who have inspired and supported me throughout my teaching career in PPS. We shared many wonderful moments in carrying out our official duties and when challenges occurred, the team would always have the resources and commitment to resolve all problems in a constructive and positive way. We have developed a great camaraderie after working together for so long.
Pioneer Primary School.
One Big Family.
Serving from the Heart.
One of the most endearing moments happened when I was approached by our late Vice-Principal, Mrs Shankar, to take up the role of Mathematics Support Teacher (MaST) back in 2001. The Learning Support for Mathematics Programme is a MOE initiated programme to support P1 & P2 pupils. It has been 20 years since I took up the role, and it has been an enriching learning journey for me.
MDM ZANA
A year ago, armed with zest and gusto,
I boomed, “Pioneer! Here we go!”
Two years later, with sadness and sorrow,
To Pioneer I whimpered, “It’s time to go.”
It may not be long enough, it may just be a brief crossruff.
Nevertheless, Pioneer, please be known,
That wherever I go, in my heart,
The warmth, the love and the care that you have shown,
Will always glow.
MDM SHAHIRA
I joined Pioneer in February of 2013. I remember enjoying the $1.40 meal which consisted of a bowl of mee rebus & 2 chicken drumlets. I always look forward to it! I believe what has rubbed off on me the most is the very strong and resounding culture of care & support. It has been etched in my heart indefinitely. I carry with me, lovely memories of dear colleagues who also played the role of family at work. All the fun we had especially on teacher's day where we get to dress up & also all the heart-work we put in, in making learning fun for our students through programmes & sharings. Pioneer, a place that truly feels like home. <3
MS SHAJIRAH
I have been in Pioneer Primary School since the year 1999. I was fresh out of NIE and was posted to Pioneer. I remembered the first time I set foot in the school. My first impression was that the school is so colourful and vibrant. The then-principal, Mrs Shirley Ho, and the teachers were so friendly and welcoming. During the first staff-cum-bonding meeting, I realised how close knit the teaching fraternity in Pioneer was and is still is up till this day (more than 20 years later!!). I am glad that I was a part of this group of people.
My most memorable moments in Pioneer are many. From the annual events and celebrations that we had together, to the outings we went both locally and overseas. The most recent memory was the last Teacher's Day concert we had when the level teachers performed on stage to the songs from the favourite animation movies. It was so exciting and funny at the same time. The teachers had a good time performing and the students had fun watching their teachers sing and dance. Everyone was so supportive of each other.
As for the students, I do have a few memorable ones but I do love them all the same. I really hope that they are doing well in whatever that they are pursuing.
Mdm far
I've been in PPS for nearly 10 years. I started out as a relief teacher, before becoming a contract teacher and eventually, a full-fledged educator. I love many things about Pioneer, but the best part about our school is the caring culture among teachers and students. My best memory of Pioneer is seeing our Netballers achieve the 4th position in the West Zone Netball Championship in 2017. It was a proud moment for our Netball teachers, school team members and their parents! Wishing all Pioneer students and staff a glorious future!
MDM MAISARAH
I have been teaching in Pioneer Primary School for seven years. On top of that, I was a student of this school for six years from 1997 to 2002. I have spent most of my childhood and adulthood in this wonderful school. Pioneer Primary School is a friendly neighbourhood school that reaches out to the community. I have always admired the tenacity of the staff and students of this school in contributing and giving back to the community. I vividly remembered the days where we distribute the plants we grow in our garden to others, we shared information and tips about 'Saving Water' to the public and we welcomed our friends from pre-schools into our school to have a sense of primary school life. My fondest memory of the school was when a student of mine was selected as a valedictorian for PSLE that year. To watch my own students grow and bloom into kind and confident young individuals is a rewarding feeling. The camaraderie that we have shared as the staff of Pioneer Primary School will forever be etched in my heart and mind. As for now, a new beginning awaits us.
MS NADZIRAH
Pioneer Primary School is my first school and I have been working here for 4 years now. I am grateful to have met all staff from different age groups and background, ranging from the administration team, to teachers, to the operations support staff, to canteen vendors and also the students here. I have learnt so much from them and it taught me life values and skills, shaping me into the person I am now. I started my journey here working closely with the PE Department and they are a fun bunch to work with! Each and every experience I have had here impacted me differently and I am glad I started off on the right foot in this school!
MDM RASHIDAH
I've been with Pioneer since 2007. Pioneer will always be special because of the colleagues I have met. They are my second family. They are very supportive. I can depend on them when I need the extra support and encouragement. It is because of them that I was able to organise our one and only grand Malay Wedding for our Mother Tongue Fortnight Programme in 2013. We held the wedding in the hall in full customary costumes and decorations. The teachers dressed up as the wedded couple. We had a dais on stage. Students performing silat and Malay dance. All these accompanied with our students playing the 'kompang'. We even had a wedding banquet. It was fun! The students really enjoyed themselves as they were immersed into the details of a Malay wedding. We conducted this programme on our own without any vendor (except to train students to play 'kompang' and rental of the dais). All these were made possible because I have a team of awesome colleagues who share the same vision. We worked together as a team to make the programme a success. I will miss my colleagues dearly.
MDM SOPHIANA
I have been in PPS since 2014. I love the school vision. Pioneer Primary School strives to develop each student to be a gem in the community and yet stay rooted in values. My fondest memory of the school would be the canteen! We had several Modified Language Experience Approach (MLEA) activities conducted there. One memorable moment would be the one where we had an Ice Cream Party and the teachers along with the students, sang a birthday song for me. It was a beautiful memory decorating the ice cream and savouring it, knowing all of us enjoyed it that much. The interaction we had with the students and the camaraderie with the level teachers was awesome. That was the best birthday celebration for me as a teacher in Pioneer Primary School!
MRS BALA
Pioneer is my first school, ever since i started teaching in 2007. I have been a passionate Lower Primary teacher. I like the Pioneer Spirit where teachers and students just step in to help whoever is in need, something like the kampong spirit. My fondest memories comes when my first batch of Primary 1 students graduated after PSLE.
MDM SUHAILAH
Hi! I am Mdm Suhailah. Its my third year teaching in Pioneer Primary School. It was definitely a pleasure teaching in this school. I have created lots of fond memories in this school. My fondest memory from teaching in this school was from all the programmes and events we have here. We still managed to conduct PPS Carnival during the Covid-19 times and it was definitely a success. Students enjoyed their time playing the various games that the team had prepared despite the Safe Management Measures (SMM). It is something that I will never forget to celebrate the number of years of Pioneer Primary School. I am thankful to be part of this school and this school shall be etched in my heart. Lots of love to Pioneer and to all the staff of Pioneer.
MDM ANIS
I started my dream as a teacher at Pioneer Primary, which would explain why I am so emotionally attached to the school. I started my journey in Pioneer on 8th of January 2018. I have countless precious moments in this school but I will keep it short and sweet.
As I think about the gatherings and wonderful moments I have had with my Tamil department and the Pioneer family, it makes me smile. The bond we share together and the beautiful friendship grown is dear to my heart. The view I see from the 4th floor and the view of the road leading to my house are spectacular during different times of the day. Some unforgettable moments that I had in Pioneer were when my first PSLE batch (28 students: 2020) achieved fantastic results (A and A*) for their Tamil Language subject. Till today I am unable to explain that feeling in words. My first dance performance on the stage and when my students voted me as the Most Inspiring Teacher are just some of the best days in my life as a teacher. These are the memories that I will always treasure.
As I think about the disappearance of the building in the near future, it fills my throat with unbearable grief. I will forever embed these memories in my heart and carry on the Pioneer spirit through my life.
With Love,
Sultan Anis Fathima

MDM SURIA
Hi! I'm Mdm Suria and I have been with Pioneer Primary School (PPS) since 2005. As PPS is my first posting school, my working career has been moulded around PPS. I cherish every experience I had in PPS especially working with the teachers and staff whom are ever caring and professional. Not forgetting the students I have taught during my teaching stint, some have grown up to be successful in their lives. My most fond moment was when a student I taught came up to me in public and greeted me. She thanked me for teaching her in PPS and updated me that she had just received her O level results and she had qualified for the express stream. It is heart warming for any teacher to have their students remember them. In this case it was made more special as the student was showing her appreciation for being taught the basics in primary school.
I will miss PPS very dearly. With that, I wish everyone well. Thank you for all the wonderful experiences PPS!
MS TAN HUI CHOON
It has been a routine for the past twenty years - welcoming the little ones into the Pioneer family, watching them grow and graduate after six years. They will always be the students of Pioneer, while we will always be the teachers of Pioneer.
MR CHRISTOPHER TAN
Having been in Pioneer for 25 years is a scary thought. I can literally say that half my life has been spent here. However, this is where I grew as a teacher. How did I grow? I learnt. I learnt from my seniors who guided me with their words and, more importantly, their actions. I learnt from the younger teachers who came after me, who helped me stay relevant. I learnt from the students. Every batch I taught in turn taught me what it means to be a teacher. And these people are what I like about Pioneer. It is a place moulded by the thoughts and actions of those who have come and gone or stayed. These people have left imprints in my life that cannot be erased. I hope I have done the same for those who have come through the gates of Pioneer. The gate will be gone, but don’t forget the school song… “in Pioneer we shall stay.”
MDM WEE PEI WEN
I joined Pioneer Primary School in 2019. No doubt it was only a short 2 years, I enjoyed being a member of the school. I was greatly touched by the kindness and warmth brought about by my colleagues, especially people I closely work with. It was assuring to know that you can always count on one another when in need. My fondest memory by far was the enthusiasm the Chinese department displayed when we all dressed up as "Ma Jies" during one of the Teacher's Day dinner.
MS WONG LIYUN
I have been teaching in Pioneer Primary School for nine years and it has been an enriching journey for me. The school has a nurturing environment and I enjoy working with all the students and staff. My fondest memory is seeing my students verbalize their knowledge as they learn through collaboration during our team-based learning lessons. Giving students a voice and avenue where they are able to articulate their knowledge empowers them to be active participants in the learning process. It is heartening that some students, who are usually reserved, actually speak up to justify their choices and convince their peers. In short, I believe that the positive experience in Pioneer Primary School has inspired students to do their best, transforming lives and I am grateful to be part of this legacy.
MDM WONG MEI FOONG
Along the years in Pioneer Primary, I grow together with my colleagues as well as my students and my children. Changes are present daily, but the memories left behind are the fondest ever. It is a second home where my heart and time are spent here. Be it the impact I brought to my students or the memories they gave me, I will always keep these close to my heart. For those who have touched my heart, for those who have inspired me in my life, for those who I have really treasured, I am grateful to have you! For Pioneer Primary School, I salute you for providing me a HOME to house all these fond memories! THANK YOU!
MRS WONG SHIHUI
Pioneer Primary School is my first school after serving my contract with another school. I would not want to be in any other school! PPS has been more that a workplace for me. I enjoy my time spent with my colleagues in PPS. These colleagues have long turned into friends. The kampong spirit is alive in PPS! No one is left alone here. Having taught many batches of students in PPS, it is very heartwarming to see the students coming back during Teachers' Day and still remember my colleagues and I. As merger draws near, I could not help but feel sad to know that changes are coming. I will truly miss the colleagues who are not joining us at the merged school. From the bottom of my heart, I wish them well. Let's keep PPS spirit alive!
MRS YVONNE ONG
I have been teaching at Pioneer for 14 years. I enjoyed the daily interactions with my students in class. My fondest memories were seeing the joy on my students’ faces in class when they knew they had learned something new. The little nods and smiles from my former students along the corridor warmed my heart as I know that they still remember me as the teacher who had coached them in their lower primary days. I had loads of fun working with teachers in the school welfare committee. Planning and dressing up for teachers’ day were also some of my fondest memories in Pioneer.
MRS JAMIE LIM
Pioneer Primary School is like a cosy little family where everyone lends a helping hand in times of need. One of the things I love most about teaching is having the ability to bring out the best in students and inspire them to strive for greatness. My fondest memory was meeting one of my ex-students outside school. He saw me and asked, "Ms Yip? Are you Ms Yip?" Seeing him in his uniform, doing his job protecting Singapore's border reminded me why I teach.
To all Pioneer Primary School graduates:
Thank you for being part of the PPS family!
MS YOONG
It has been a privilege to educate and nurture a generation of children and to be a part of the community. To be able to see the growth of Pioneer from the early years till now has been humbling and heartening. Looking back, it makes me feel proud to have been a part of this school and to be able to contribute in my own small way.
MR ZHANG QINGYU
I have been teaching in Pioneer Primary for nine years. I would never forget Pioneer students, they show care towards each other and respect the teachers. There are a lot of precious memories with PPS. On Teachers’ Day, my P5 Chinese students decorated the whole white board to present their appreciation to me. PPS is a place where students can pursue their own dreams. It is the Pioneer spirit, which makes us who we are.
MDM ZHOU LIN
I have been a Chinese teacher in Pioneer Primary School for 10 years. I like PPS because all the colleagues and students are so lovely. I got a lot of support from my colleagues and students and I feel that the school is my second home. I will miss you all!
MDM ZUBAIDAH
I have been in Pioneer Primary School for over a decade. I did my practicum in PPS and was eventually posted to PPS.
I like everything about PPS! Well, most of it! The best of it ought to be the care and warmth of everyone in PPS. We truly bond like a family!
I have too many fond memories here. From getting anxious when the Primary 6 students receive their PSLE results and seeing their happy faces, to learning journeys, the birthday celebrations, the celebrations in school (e.g Childrens’ day, Teacher’s day, Hari Raya Celebrations), the department bonding sessions, staff retreats and even the simple 'makan' sessions in the canteen!
MDM ONG MAN LIN
"People" is the main drive throughout my 5 years in Pioneer. In this environment, where the culture of care is being strongly emphasised, I have worked with creative, passionate and enthusiastic colleagues who have inspired me to bring about hope and positivity into the classrooms. I fondly remember that on one of the Teachers' Day Dinner, we came up with a wild idea to dress up as characters in the Hong Kong Movie, the Kung Fu Hustle. The members of my department even practised and performed the signature dance in the movie. At the end of the night, we managed to clinch one of the best dressed awards in the group category. Who would have thought that teachers could be so fun-loving and spontaneous! It was truly enjoyable, working alongside with so many creative and interesting individuals in Pioneer Primary School.
MRS ESTHER SEAH
I started off my teaching career as a contract teacher in Pioneer Primary in Sep 2008. During that time, the school was located at the holding site. My very first friend was Firdaus! We sort of grew older together in Pioneer Primary School! =p
Back then in the staffroom, I was seated with teachers like Puay Puay and Lokemum(an ex teacher), not sure if Mdm Malar was also seated in the same stretch of the old staffroom back then. They were very welcoming and helpful in helping me ease into the environment.
Through my years in Pioneer, apart from the rich teaching experiences I gained, I also formed meaningful friendship with the awesome colleagues.
Being a teacher is never an easy job as our job scopes are not limited to only teaching. I am thankful for the help and guidance I received throughout my years in Pioneer. Teaching can never be so fun without all of you. As I bid goodbye to all of you at the end of the year, I hope we could still stay in touch despite the distance! Will miss working and lamenting about the students in our class.
MDM TAN-NAI LI HUA
It has been a great 10 years at Pioneer Primary School. Thank you for the memories.
MDM HO SHEN HAN
I've been teaching in Pioneer Primary School for 10 years. What I like most is the caring colleagues here. We work as a team and support each other. My fondest memory would be that teachers from different department will join the festive celebrations in school to create a culture of celebration.
MR SHAH
When I first joined Pioneer Primary School, I didn't know what to expect. At first, I was struggling to fit in as I came from being a secondary school teacher to being a primary school teacher. It is a very different environment. But never have I thought I would find another home and another family. This is my sixth year in Pioneer Primary School and the friendships and trust that I have now are beyond my expectation. I love everything about PPS especially the colleagues and students. People supported one another and built friendships for life here in PPS. The leaders are true and kind. What more can I ask?
MS NATALIE CHEN
Pioneer Primary is my first and only school that I have taught in for the past 13 years. I am grateful for the fun-loving colleagues whom I have worked with thus far. I am blessed to be part of the Pioneer family and all the fond memories that I had collected over the years would be placed dearly in my mind.
MDM NG AI LING
I have been with Pioneer Primary School for 12 years and I am grateful for the kindness from the wonderful people I have met. I am blessed to have fun-loving, supportive and caring colleagues, who have inspired me and helped me grow in many ways. This is the “Pioneer” spirit that keeps me motivated and afresh throughout the years.
My fondest memories in PPS … It is hard to pick one as I really have a lot of beautiful memories. I enjoyed dressing up with my colleagues for Teachers’ Day, working with my awesome SWC team to plan activities, having fun while recording CNY music videos, meeting local actors & authors in PPS etc. These were really fun and enriching experiences that I had throughout the past 12 years. My journey in PPS is also packed with sweet stories from my students that touched my heart greatly. I enjoy learning and growing with the kids. Watching them grow and achieving their goals make me feel proud. Hearing from ex-students that they are doing well makes me feel accomplished. One of the heart-warming moments is when my graduating class surprised me with their self-created Teacher’s day wishes video, I vividly remember that the video brought me to tears. These moments made my educator journey meaningful and fulfilling, motivating me to constantly look for different ways to ignite their creativity. One of the most precious projects is working together with the students for the Glorious Future《璀璨未来》project to show appreciation and the feeling of gratitude to the school.
I am proud to see PPS transforming from Good to Great! Pioneer has always been a second home to us – a place that stays in my heart. Let us continue to work hard and put in our best effort to live up to our school motto - "Strive to Succeed".
MDM JANICE PANG
I have been in Pioneer Primary School for 2 years. I absolutely love the support and camaraderie among the staff, working well as one big family. My fondest memory was on my first Teachers' Day in PPS whereby everyone participated and there were so much fun and laughter!
MR SAMUEL
I have been teaching in Pioneer for more than 10 years but it seems like it was just a few years ago. Teaching is a challenging job but the satisfaction of grooming young men and women makes it worth the while. The teachers in Pioneer Primary School are a wonderful bunch. They are genuine, caring and work well as a team to manage all the challenges that are thrown at them. I feel sad to know that Pioneer Primary School will be merging but the friendships built, bonds nurtured and the cherished memories will always hold a special place in our hearts.
MR CHARLES TAN (VICE-PRINCIPAL)
It's been 4 years and in that span of time, we have moved the school. In many ways we are doing very well. I am proud to have written the lyrics for the song Glorious Future which is a hit amongst staff and students.
MS CHUA SOK HUN
I have been with Pioneer Primary school for five years. I am glad to witness my students’ learning and growth throughout the years. What impressed me the most was the team spirit the whole school displayed during Sports Day. Be it the teachers or the students, all were working hard to strive for glory for their respective houses. This spirit of unity and concerted effort is worthy of applaud and I hope it remains constant in Pioneer.
MS CORRINE FONG
I have been with Pioneer for 17 years. I was here as an untrained teacher before I went to NIE. It all seemed like yesterday when the school was still operating double sessions and the lower primary gathered at the foyer (the drop off point, center parking area now) for flag lowering ceremony at about 6pm.
I particularly loved the foyer area because it is like the heart of the school. Everyone gathered there to start and end the day together. During festive celebrations especially during the Chinese New Year’s eve, the residents will be dressed in red, looking out from their windows, standing at the corridors of the flats surrounding the school to watch the Lion and Dragon Dance. They sang, danced, clapped and cheered together with us.
We are a part of their lives as much as they are, a part of Pioneer’s.
MS APRIL CHUA
I can't believe it's been 23 years! It feels not too long ago that I first stepped foot into Pioneer Primary School. I can't say that it was love at first sight but over the years, the love I have for the people in the school, both students and teachers, has grown very deep. Colleagues are no longer just colleagues; they've become close friends and confidants.
I am very thankful to PPS for the wonderful life experiences she's given me. I used to believe that teachers shape the lives of students. Now I believe that the reverse is also true. My students have made me a better human being; they have taught me so much about life.
I can't pinpoint my fondest memory in PPS because there are so many. There has never been a dull moment in Pioneer. I feel very blessed to have found home here. I look forward to coming to school every day because I get to do what I love doing; teach and spend time with my friends. It's the best job in the world! I am so proud to be a part of the Pioneer family.
MRS TAN YINGQING
I have been in Pioneer Primary for 14 years. This is my first school ever since my teaching practice. I am thankful to have met many kind and encouraging colleagues who have helped me grow and support me in my teaching journey.
I remembered the fun and exciting time when we had our annual Pioneer’s Got Talent competition which showcased our students’ talents in dance, singing and music. It was one of the most anticipated events of the year and students had the opportunities to vote for their favourite team!
I am grateful to be part of the song-writing team and to have written the music for the Pioneer Primary theme song – Glorious Future. It is really heart-warming feeling whenever I hear the music being played in school. I am proud to see PPS progressing from good to great and I wish that it will continue to shine for years to come!
MR HISHAM
I have been with Pioneer Primary School for 11 years. I have many fond memories here. One of many things I like about the school are definitely the colleagues. They are some of the best and kindest people that I have ever worked with. One of my fondest memories that I will take from my experience here is the football game victory against Nanyang Primary School in 2016. In the 7 years of being the CCA teacher in charge, we have never beaten them until that fateful day when we beat them by 2 goals. It was an extremely happy moment for us and I was proud of my football boys for their resilence and can-do attitude. This will always be my fondest memory of the school.
MDM TAN YONG EN
Thank You PPS for the wonderful 5 years of teaching experience! I am thankful for the bunch of supportive colleagues whom I have met here as they have always been by my side through some of the few important stages of my life. They have helped me to grow and inspired me to become a better someone. I believe my fondest memories of the school would definitely be all my "first times", like to teach PAL or to be an emcee for an event for the first time etc. This includes all the "first times" that I have with my students... the first time they thank me for teaching them, the first time they responded that they liked my lesson etc
Thank you Pioneer for all the precious memories I have made here, and thank you watching me grow from a beginning teacher to whom I am today.
MS YVONNE NG
Pioneer Primary School has been my first official school ever since I started teaching. Even though I have taught many lessons, I realised that the best lessons were taught by my students. I have gained so much more from them. These memories are so precious to me, I’ll keep them close to my heart. Finally, I’m eternally grateful for all the wonderful opportunities given to me during my course here in PPS and I wish for nothing but the best for the exciting journey ahead for PPS!
MR IRFAN
It has not even been a year since I first joined Pioneer Primary School and the school will soon be going through a lot of changes. Friendly staff, curious students and professional teachers walk every corner of the school. I could see many memoirs hung as displays along the school corridors telling so many stories about the school journey through the years. I can only imagine the overwhelming reactions by the staff who have been here for so many years.
In my short time in the school, I have been warmly welcomed and helped throughout all the adjustments I had to make to settle in. Everyone is supportive of each other and is working so well together as a team. It has set a benchmark for me to the kind of contribution I should make in the workplace and as a team player. I learnt a lot.
As the schools merge, I am sure that the staff would be able to pass on the spirit of PPS into the new school environment. I believe that the school is its people and as we embrace change, those good values and memories live on in the people!
